The West Retford Hotel, 24 North Rd, Retford DN22 7XG, UK – 01777 706333
The hotel is a short walk from the town centre with access off the main road. The rooms are contained in a separate building set well back fron the road and thus quiet. Important in hot weather where leaving windows open can lead to disturbed sleep. Friendly service. Good breakfast. Popular venue for events but plenty of car park spaces stretching back past the rooms block. Very well maintained garden making a great backdrop to an evening drink on the patio.
A beautiful hotel with period charm & character in stunning extremely well maintained grounds, perfect for wedding photography. My visit was to a relation's wedding reception. The buffet was first class with a huge variety of food. Attention to detail is outstanding with some really well thought touches. Staff extraordinarily polite, professional and so helpful. Highly recommended indeed.

We booked this on Thursday night for the following weekend arriving quite late at night. It was extremely cheap and I was not asked for a deposit or card number so I was a bit nervous about what we would find or even if we would find they had reserved a room for us. I packed teabags, towel, hairdryer and my own toiletries just in case. I need not have worried. The room was quite basic but spotlessly clean and well stocked. The staff were very friendly. In addtion to our double room we had a small kitchenette and en suite bathroom. The view of the church was lovely and we couldn't have been more central. We visit Retford regularly to see family who can't put us up. We will definitely stay there again.
Very nice clean accommodation with en suite shower room included extras microwave kettle cutlery plates place to sit, sheets & towels .Not good for disabled/old person as no lift .

Nice place to stay. Rooms are converted stables on the side of the hotel. Ample parking and good cheap food in the pub. Nice location. Some rooms are in good condition, others require a little tlc. No wifi in rooms but wifi in pub.
Our family spent New Years Eve at The Elms as they advertised a family disco and buffet. Having stayed in for the last 6 years with our small children it was pleasing to find somewhere that catered/ included them. However, this wasn't necessarily the case. Everyone was squished into the bar area, some didn't have seats. Hardly a dance floor, once 5-6 people were dancing there was no room for anyone else. Buffet was 50 minutes later than advised. Customers were trapped in their seats due to limited space, prams etc. Sadly only 7 children attended. The children weren't catered for at all. However, we met a family and had a nice time. The Elms could be great if only they listened to their customer base!

Nice setting, by the canal on a sunny day. Inside looks clean and tidy. Nice place to see outside and have a drink or coffee. Food was nice, if a little over priced for what you get, and slow to come. £12.50 for Steak ciabatta and chips. (Usual price elsewhere £7.50-£8.00) Average price for light bites £12 for most things.. so it's not cheap. Value for money? Questionable... But staff were polite and friendly, maybe management need to think about the business they'd encourage if it was more reasonably priced.
Changed from when I last visited. Nice surroundings out to attract a good class of clientele. Food aims to be more restaurant than pub grub. Ideally placed at the side if the canal with a great outside beer garden. Ideal place for a pint while taking in the views.

After a long walk it was nice to come in and to be served drinks despite the pub wasn’t even open yet! Under new management and with a great customer service I am sure they will do well! Recommended!
Lovely place, great atmosphere, tasty food and excellent staff. Cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the food! 100% would recommend!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Pleasant spit apart from the smell from the nearby sewage treatment works. Seem to be plenty of fish, and big ones!
Great friendly place..good fishing and a pleasure to go there...Will visit again.

A lovely site with great views. The area is beautiful. Unisex toilets (2) and shower room with outside pot wash and taps. It's a relaxed pitch anywhere type of site, maybe a little expensive for what it is and camping neighbours make all the difference to your experience. Unfortunately the first 2 nights they were not nice neighbours but once they left we really enjoyed it!
Cannot fault this site in any way, brilliant run family camping site, owners go out of their way to help and make an enjoyable holiday, will deffinately be going back , kids loved it

Located in a field behind the main house I really liked this small & peaceful campsite. Well organised by thoughtful people there's good clean facilities and fire pits are made available. There are 2 loos and 2 showers in the block nr the house. Music cut off is 11pm, which is generous considering you're in the owners back garden.
Really chilled out with good facilities. Friendly owner!
